FlexComputing enables enterprises to rapidly deploy and update applications in multiple hosting locations. The platform represents the third stage of utility computing’s development, says speedera, where customer’s applications are deployed on Speedera’s global network and additional hosting capacity is provided on-demand.

Speedera says the distributed hosting solution provides higher application performance, scalability and reliability, and enhances security against attacks, while eliminating the need to invest in new server and network infrastructure. The company says the platform, by deploying multiple application servers at several locations, is ideal for companies that require more capacity to support either widely variable or rapidly growing computing resource and bandwidth usage.

“FlexComputing is the industry’s most open, flexible solution for distributed multi-network application hosting on a global basis,” says Ajit Gupta, president and CEO of Speedera Networks. “Because FlexComputing is based on a utility computing pricing model, companies pay only for the capacity they require. This eliminates their need to overprovision their own server infrastructure and allows them to focus their human resources and budget dollars on developing their core business instead.”

The platform runs on Windows Server 2003, Red Hat Linux and open source Linux, in addition to application servers such as JBoss, Websphere, Tomcat or WebLogic. FlexComputing is tightly integrated with Speedera’s existing globally distributed delivery network and Global Traffic Management System.
