June 22, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Speedera Networks Inc., (speedera.com) a provider of on-demand distributed application and content delivery services, today announced that F-Secure Corporation, a provider of centrally managed security solutions, has selected Speedera’s Traffic Balancer service to ensure global load balancing between its multiple data centers in Europe and North America.

The agreement eliminates F-Secure’s need for buying and managing its own load balancing hardware, and strengthens its download distribution system for updating its customers’ software. Traffic Balancer has a dedicated worldwide network of strategically located global traffic managers and network probes.

Traffic Balances’ routing decisions are based on configurable policies and real-time network, server, and application health criteria such as network latency, link-to-link outages, packet loss, CPU utilitization, and others. It also uses application server management data extracted from F-Secure’s download system to increase its load balancing decisions. When an origin site failure occurs, Traffic Balancer ensures that traffic “fails over” gracefully to the remaining origin sites without overloading them.

“When a virus hits, the cost of even one hour of downtime can be enormous – time and money that no business or individual can afford,” says Speedera President and CEO Ajit Gupta. “The combination of F-Secure and Speedera’s forces will bring one of the world’s leading security solutions to an ever-growing audience of computer users everywhere.”
