Solar VPS extended its VPS management console SolarSystem to Dallas through a partnership with data center operator Digital Realty
VPS hosting provider Solar VPS announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its cloud hosting software the SolarSystem to Dallas, Texas, through a partnership with data center operator Digital Realty.
Dallas is the first Solar VPS SolarSystem node in its expansion, which will see additional nodes added in Phoenix, AZ and Miami, FL, later this year. It is based on the same architecture as its sister node deployed in Clifton, NJ in January 2013.
Launched officially in October 2012 after a successful beta period, SolarSystem is a customer-facing management console it developed in-house for customers to have more control over their VPS hosting experience. The console combines third-party and proprietary tools, like its SolarRay monitoring technology.

The Dallas Solar VPS node hypervisors comprise next generation hexa-core Intel E5 Processors with 256GB of RAM. Solar VPS says the new node has a fully redundant 10GB network and operates a NetApp base SAS storage platform.
According to Solar VPS, the expansion of its internally-developed Windows and Linux VPS cloud hosting software marks its first partnership with Digital Realty.
“Digital Realty is the right data center partner for the SolarSystem solution. The selection of Digital Realty as our partner was based on their proven track record as an industry leader in data center uptime and customer service as it mirrors the Solar VPS company philosophy,” Solar VPS director of data center operations, Salvatore Poliandro said in a statement. “The SolarSystem nodes are the fastest nodes available in the industry and are built on proven, reliable technology offered at affordable rates. We are proud to be pushing the industry forward with a solution designed for IT professionals and small businesses.”
“The demand for Software as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service is driving significant growth in companies like Solar VPS. We are pleased to be the data center provider for the SolarSystem offering as the Solar VPS business continues to expand,” Andrew Schaap, vice president of sales at Digital Realty said in a statement.
The Dallas SolarSystem location will help meet the needs of hosting clients located across the US and Central America, Solar VPS says.
