Softlayer Technologies has added a "Deploying Your Own Private Cloud" option,
Cloud hosting provider SoftLayer Technologies announced on Thursday it has added a “Deploying Your Own Private Cloud” option, which lets webmasters automate nearly every task needed to launch a professional website in less than a couple hours.
The move comes a week after SoftLayer Technologies completed its SOC 2 Type II exam for its 13 data centers across the US, as well as Singapore and the Netherlands.
The new hosting option gives webmasters to unrestricted back office access to a complete cloud environment, enabling them to retain control over every aspect of launching and maintaining an e-commerce website.
The Deploying Your Own Private Cloud product includes a range of automated functions, including provisioning management server and installing its management system, provisioning host servers and installing each host’s hypervisor, registering host servers with the management server, and completing additional network and resource management tasks.
As a cloud management solution, SoftLayer’s private clouds are available with Citrix CloudPlatform which is powered by Apache CloudStack.
CloudPlatform’s ease of use and flexibility provide the control that’s necessary for easy scalability and increased efficiency.
The company’s private cloud service functions as a stand-alone environment which can easily be integrated with other services including database clusters, a content delivery network and dedicated and cloud severs.
Key advantages include automated deployment, on-demand scalability, full management access and control, seamless global deployment, SoftLayer Object Storage Integration, and RightScale Integration.
Softlayer is one of the few hosting providers to offer a private cloud computing environment comprised of one or more physical servers, each of which use the latest virtualization technology.
Customers are given full control of the entire environment including virtual resources available for both consumers and businesses.
In December, SoftLayer Technologies launched a big data solution with 10Gen on its Bare Metal Cloud hardware.
