SoftLayer Offers Parallels Panel with CloudLayer

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider SoftLayer Technologies (www.softlayer.com) announced on Monday it is now offering Parallels Plesk Panel (www.parallels.com) as an optional service with CloudLayer Computing Instances (www.softlayer.com/cloudlayer.html).

The offering expands on its previous promotion, announced in April, where it began offering Parallels Plesk Panel 9.0 for free with all new purchases of its dedicated server plans.

This latest extension of Parallels Panel to the company’s cloud computing solution gives SoftLayer customers even more control and operational efficiency, says SoftLayer.

“Parallels Panel was designed to enable our partners like SoftLayer to build more flexibility and value into their solutions, and extend all of its benefits to their customers,” says Jack Zubarev, president of service provider worldwide for Parallels. “We’re excited to see it extended to SoftLayer’s cloud customers. Parallels Panel helps SMBs maximize their IT investments and provides access to new applications and services on-demand. We believe in meeting customers evolving needs, and cloud services are truly redefining the hosting industry.”

Used by service providers and system administrators around the world, Parallels Panel lets users automates and simplify management and administration for dedicated, shared, and virtual systems.

It offers a range of features for optimizing operations and maximizing return, including a simplified interface, effective backup and restore functionality, and tools for managing and reselling applications and services.

CloudLayer Computing provides cloud-based computing instances running enterprise-grade and open source operating systems.

These instances provide enterprises with full scalability and can seamlessly integrate with SoftLayer dedicated servers, automated services, and other CloudLayer services to develop a fully unified computing solution, says the company.

Other features include image library, which lets users capture, template, and store images for accelerated provisioning and management, full access and control via customer portal and API, and virtualized networking, security, storage and management.
