SoftLayer and Cloudkick Partner to Help Customers Manage Cloud Computing Instances

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — On-demand data center, hosting, and cloud services provider SoftLayer Technologies (www.softlayer.com) has announced a partnership with Cloudkick (www.cloudkick.com) to help customers manage and monitor their CloudLayer instances and resources.

According to the Monday announcement, Cloudkick gives SoftLayer customers new options for managing and monitoring cloud servers through a variety of tools unified through one easy-to-use dashboard. Cloudkick’s unique management offering lets clients easily mange and monitor numerous resources. Features include monitoring and fault detection, trend analysis with interactive graphs, support for multiple clouds, and flexible alert options including SMS.

“One of SoftLayer’s core advantages is that we give customers unparalleled control over their computing environment,” SoftLayer chief strategy officer George Karidis said in a statement. “Cloudkick helps us extend that advantage, providing even more power for tracking and monitoring resources within diverse infrastructure environments.”

Cloudkick works on a variety of cloud providers including Amazon EC2, Rackspace Cloud, VPS.NET and Slicehost. Even if SoftLayer is the primary cloud, Cloudkick can be used to manage secondary clouds.

“Cloudkick will bring value to SoftLayer’s CloudLayer infrastructure services by giving SoftLayer customers access to our robust set of tools to help manage their infrastructure,” Cloudkick co-founder Dan Di Spaltro said in a statement. “Through this partnership with SoftLayer, we are continuing to work towards our goal of opening the cloud and giving our users a choice between numerous hosting providers.”

Last week, SoftLayer announced it had been given $10 million in new financing, bringing its total of funds available under its senior notes facility to $30 million, which will be used to fund the company’s continued growth.
