(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting software firm Softaculous announced earlier this week that it has launched version 1.5 of its AMPPS platform, a software stack that includes Apache, MySQL, PHP, Perl, Python and the Softaculous tool.
Freely available for installation on Windows desktops and servers, as well as Mac machines, the AMPPS tool offers access to more than 250 applications, geared to provide an environment for website and web application developers.
The list of applications supported by AMPPS includes such popular hosting-related tools as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, phpBB MediaWiki, WHMCS, SugarCRM, SquirrelMail and many others. Many of those same tools are available through the Softaculous tool, which hosting providers run as a component of many popular web host control panels.
On Monday, the company announced that it had launched version 4.0 of Softaculous, adding new features for end users, as well as a few bug fixes.
“We are extremely excited about the launch of new version of AMPPS” says Ketan Shah, senior developer of AMPPS, quoted in the press release, “and we are also soon going to add some of the coolest new features.”
