(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IT management software provider SmarterTools (www.smartertools.com) announced on Thursday it has released SmarterMail 6.x, the latest version of its flagship mail server software.
The new version builds upon previous releases to simplify mailbox migration, enhance Microsoft Outlook and mobile synchronization, improve message archiving, and increase the efficiency of the software’s out-of-the-box spam protection.
The release marks a significant offering, as the last major version of SmarterMail the company released was in March 2008 when it released SmarterMail 5.x.
SmarterMail 6.x lets users sync email, calendars, contacts, tasks and notes between mobile devices in real time using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, as well as add Exchange ActiveSync to only the mailboxes that need the technology.
The new version also includes the Commtouch Premium Antispam add-on for users that want to improve SmarterMail’s out-of-the-box antispam, which will block 99.5 percent of spam from users’ inboxes.
The new mailbox migration tool simplifies the process of companies migrating mail servers or service providers, while individual users can transition from products and services like Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, and Yahoo! within a few clicks.
