SiteGround Supports Open Source

August 16, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider SiteGround (siteground.com) announced on Thursday that it is sponsoring three different initiatives aimed at promoting open source projects, including the TextPattern templates competition (textplates.com), the BlogBackupOnline (blogbackuponline.com) contest and the 2007 DrupalCon (drupalcon.org).

For a second year, SiteGround contributed the top prize at the TextPlates competition for TextPattern templates held in July. The contest aimed at increasing the popularity of the TextPattern software and to ease the creation of new TextPattern-based blogs by providing more free templates.

SiteGround is also sponsoring the BlogBackupOnline contest. BlogBackupOnline provides free backup services for blog Web sites and aims to increase the awareness of blog users about the value of the back up creation through true-life stories.

The company will also be sponsoring this year DrupalCon in Barcelona, Spain. SiteGround has been providing a special hosting pack for Drupal users since 2003 as well as created many resources, including tutorials and themes, which are publicly available for free use.

Siteground recently announced that it is now hosting more than 100,000 domains
