SIPD Customizes Acumatica Cloud ERP for French Canada

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Cloud enterprise resource planning software provider Acumatica (www.acumatica.com) and Les Services SIPD (www.servicessipd.com), a cloud ERP solutions distributor in French Canada, recently announced the availability of a French language pack and system configurations for Acumatica’s ERP software for the Quebec market.

According to SIPD, its customization of Acumatica’s ERP software is designed for mid-sized businesses in Quebec that want to rapidly implement a cloud ERP system tailored to their business environment.

Due to the small size of the French Canadian market (estimated to comprise less than 10.5 million individuals), there is sometimes a lag when it comes to the latest technologies. The benefits of the cloud, however, proved too hard for businesses to ignore.

Last year, SIPD software development vice president and co-owner Gabriel Michaud said SIPD was getting more and more requests for a mid-market cloud ERP solution as companies increasingly had de-localized workforce, an expanding ERP user base, and many customers increasingly tired of IT issues such as backups and downtime.

In trying to find a cloud solution to provide customers, Michaud said, “Unfortunately, we did not find a product suited to the French-Canadian market.”

His research into a solution that could be adapted to meet his requirements led him to Acumatica.

”What caught my attention about Acumatica was that the software could be translated and customized,” Michaud said. “So we started late last year to translate the software into French, and we also did some customization to enable multi-lingual business forms and reports.”

SIPD began using Acumatica’s configuration and customization tools to suit the local language and accounting requirements without needing to do any custom coding. SIPD was also able to leverage its on-staff IT to further customize its solution to make material simultaneously available in both the official languages of Canada: French and English. They were able to do this development using familiar coding languages including ASP.NET and C#.

“We developed Acumatica as a horizontal application which can be rapidly customized by partners like SIPD who have knowledge of specific markets such as Quebec,” Acumatica CEO Ezequiel Steiner said. “The product has a configurable, highly customizable, and very easy – well it takes an effort – but it’s possible to take the product to other countries and regions with different accounting and reporting structures.”

Steiner noted that SIPD’s customization work will benefit other companies in French Canada wishing to offer a customized solution for this particular market.

“The way Acumatica provides for customization, it’s basically you create a language file that SIPD owns – it’s their intellectual property – so they can license it as such on top of Acumatica,” Steiner said. “So, there is actually a revenue opportunity on top of just reselling Acumatica for anyone that develops either a customization like SIPD did, or even some new models, functionality, etc., on top of Acumatica.”

The French language pack is now available for both Acumatica SaaS and on-premise licenses, and SIPD experts are available to provide customer-specific configurations and provide support for Acumatica customers in Quebec and throughout Canada.

As well as providing language flexibility, Acumatica’s cloud-based ERP software gives customers the flexibility to deploy it on a company-owned server, on an externally hosted virtual private server, as a cloud-based software-as-a-service application. Running on the Microsoft Windows Azure platform, Acumatica delivered as a SaaS solution reduces costs by eliminating customers’ need to manage complex hardware, software, backups, and upgrades.

Further, businesses with worldwide operations can use a single installation of Acumatica for their entire business in multiple languages. Currently available in the US and Canada, as well as in several Asian markets, Acumatica is poised to be able to form the foundation for a fully customized cloud-based ERP solution in virtually any market.

“For the future, we expect to move Acumatica to growth areas like South-East Asia and also, some countries of Latin America, China, Russia, India, and some countries in Europe,” said Steiner.
