SingleHop Launches Server Trade-In Program

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In a new initiative designed to encourage companies to use energy efficient servers, web hosting provider SingleHop (www.singlehop.com) is offering up to $300 in cash when companies trade in their older servers for more energy-efficient SingleHop servers.

SingleHop’s Cash for Server Clunkers program is inspired by the popular government program for automobiles.

The program lets new customers upgrade to newer, faster and power-saving dedicated server machines, while receiving both cash back and marketing vouchers.

To qualify for the promotion, customers must submit a copy of their receipt proving that their energy-wasting old server was canceled.

The web host is also offering those customers who trade up from especially old machines to receive higher amounts of cash benefits.

In other words, the “larger the energy usage gap, the larger the cash back bonus,” says Dan Ushman, VP of Sales for SingleHop.

“SingleHop has always been focused on providing fast, efficient and power-saving servers, even spearheading the introduction of Intel’s ultra-efficient ATOM processors for use in dedicated servers – the outcome included higher performance and 70 percent energy savings vs. other processors of similar speed,” says Dan Salcedo, VP of Communications for SingleHop. “In the end, SingleHop’s Cash for Server Clunkers program cements our environmental focus and, we are confident, will encourage more economic activity than would have otherwise occurred without this privately funded incentive.”
