(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting provider SingleHop (www.singlehop.com) announced on Wednesday it has released its new firewall product, SnapShield.
The on-demand firewall system lets small and medium sized clients to quickly deploy an advanced Cisco-powered hardware firewall, for a subtantially less fee than having their own dedicated hardware firewall.
SingleHop customers will have seamless control of their on-demand firewall due to its direct integration into LEAP.
Launched in July 2008, LEAP offers a comprehensive server management software accessible online via a desktop application and through various mobile devices including Android, iPhone and Blackberry.
SnapShield firewall is completely virtualized and administered on the network level, which means it does not require any installation or maintenance.
“From the start, LEAP was designed to offer our clients more flexibility and control,” says president and CEO Zak Boca. “With the addition of SnapShield, LEAP now offers a set of features unmatched by other server providers. Clients now can deploy an affordable and advanced hardware firewall in less than a minute, something that used to take days and is simply not available with many of our competitors.”
The on-demand firewall system is available currently at SingleHop’s newest data center in Elk Grove Village, located just northwest of downtown Chicago, which opened in May.
The Cisco-powered firewall has a range of features, including application awareness, SSL and IPsec VPN, intrusion prevention, automatic anti-virus, and anti-spam and anti-phishing protection.
SingleHop is currently offering SnapShield inside the LEAP web desktop interface, and plans to offer mobile firewall deployment and configuration via LEAP mobile within the next six months.
