July 30, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Chicago-based managed hosting provider SingleHop (singlehop.com) has announced the addition of advanced automatic server provisioning to its webtop management portal LEAP, which was launched last week.
“In a nutshell, AASP will match a server to a client’s specifications; this represents the next step in the evolution of our LEAP webtop,” said SingleHop development leader Luke Tworek. “LEAP allows clients to have complete control over their infrastructure remotely, and for it to serve as a platform for delivering products and services.
Designed to be transparent to the user, under the new system, clients select a server model and customize the hardware, software and management features, then LEAP’s AASP system searches for a server that matches the customized hardware.
If a server is found, it will automatically select it and begin installation. If hardware customization is required, LEAP will select the closest match and notify SingleHop’s tech support staff to upgradethe server hardware. LEAP will start provisioning the server when the upgrade is complete.
The addition of auto-provisioning to LEAP is the latest announcement from SingleHop, which pre-launched its Supercharged line of servers earlier this week and offered a free 2GB RAM upgrade for existing clients earlier in the month.
