November 3, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Netscaler (netscaler.com), a provider of application delivery systems, announced on Tuesday that Chinese online media giant SINA Corporation has deployed its Netscaler 9000 series application delivery systems in order to optimize the performance and security of the Sina.com (sina.com) portal, one of the most heavily trafficked sites on the Internet.

Sina.com has more than 102.9 million registered users and more than 12 million active users. In partnership with the Chinese government, the portal provided live online coverage of the recent Olympic games in Athens, Greece. Large traffic spikes occurred after every Chinese gold medal won, including a 742 percent spike after Liu Xiang won the men’s 110 meter hurdles.
