(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Connectivity provider Sidera Networks (www.sidera.net) announced on Thursday that it has expanded its fiber network to several data centers in Northern Virginia.
According to the press release, Sidera’s expansion includes the recently expanded Latisys’ data center campus in Ashburn.
“We are seeing increasing adoption of high-density computing each year. This, combined with the rising costs of power, is making our data center and colocation services the ideal solution for enterprises from all industries as well as government agencies and service providers,” David Haskell, regional sales director at Latisys-Ashburn said in a statement. “Sidera’s network provides the accessibility, reliability and flexibility we require to ensure top performance of our customers’ mission-critical applications.”
The Latisys-Ashburn (www.latisys.com) campus includes a newly built 71,800 square foot data center and an additional 63,000 square foot facility with more than 40 megawatts of available power capacity. The data center now provides businesses with premium bandwidth options and fiber-based connectivity from Sidera Networks.
“Industry leading data center providers, such as Latisys, are constantly looking to offer their clients more, especially as it relates to communications services. Our high capacity, customizable network offers the flexibility and reliability these facilities need to address the demanding requirements of the businesses they serve,” Maura Mahoney, vice president of marketing and business development at Sidera. “The businesses colocated at this facility can leverage Sidera’s network for high capacity, low latency connections, and benefit from working with a trusted partner committed to optimizing its clients’ business performance.”
In the past few months Virginia has seen a lot of growth in the sector, including Virginia-based web hosting provider ServInt expanding data center capacity in Reston and Web host StrataScale expanding into a RagingWire data center in Ashburn.
