Using the cloud application deployment and management technology from Standing Cloud, SetSeed Hosting delivers single-click managed hosting, deployment and management, with built-in SetSeed CMS.
Web developers and agencies use SetSeed CMS to build and deploy websites and ecommerce sites for their clients from a single installation, no plug-ins required, Ben Vallack, developer at SetSeed said in the press release.
SetSeed Hosting customers can choose the hosting provider, data center and geography of their choice from a list of about 15 public cloud providers including AWS and Rackspace, the former of which has been hit with recent criticism from Gartner on its confusing cloud SLAs.
According to SetSeed, sites hosted through SetSeed Hosting on Standing Cloud are able to migrate from cloud-to-cloud, eliminating vendor lock-in. Because of this feature, customers can quickly add capacity or move to another cloud, protecting their sites against downtime or service outages.
Standing Cloud’s technology also includes application recovery, which SetSeed said ensures better uptime performance than other shared hosting platforms. SetSeed sites are automatically restored if they become unresponsive, and backups are run daily, hourly or on-demand.
Like other hosting services, SetSeed users pay monthly for the server, and only pay for the resources they use. Currently, SetSeed is offering a free 24-hour trial of its new service.
“With SetSeed Hosting powered by Standing Cloud, it’s easy to set up and run multiple SetSeed sites on a single server, or spin up dev or test environments and shut them down when they’re not in use,” Joni Klippert, director of customer development for Standing Cloud said in a statement. “Since you’re only charged for what you use, SetSeed Hosting is a powerful combination of efficiency, affordability and simplicity for developers and agencies.”
Standing Cloud formed an agreement with Flexiant in August 2011 to integrate the Flexiant Extility cloud platform with Standing Cloud’s application layer, in order to simplify deployment and management of cloud applications.
