ServerCentral's new Elk Grove Village data center, operated by DuPont Fabros Technology.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator ServerCentral (www.servercentral.com) announced on Wednesday it has added data center space in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, a suburb located 20 miles from downtown Chicago.
The new Tier III+ data center is operated by wholesale data center operator DuPont Fabros Technology (www.dft.com).
ServerCentral signed a long-term lease for 10,000 square feet of raised floor space out of the facility’s total 221,000 square feet. The company also has the option to quickly expand into additional space as needed.
Last month, Net2EZ Managed Data Centers has pre-leased space at DuPont Fabros’s ACC5 data center facility in Ashburn, Virginia.
With the addition of this latest data center to its Chicago footprint, ServerCentral provides customers with significant expansion capacity for high-density installations in cabinets and private cages, as well as connections to its global backbone network.
According to the press release, the colocation space includes “a power density of over 200 watts per square foot with isolated and redundant electrical bus feeds, N+2 redundancy on all critical systems, and low-latency peering, transit and metro area transport.”
The data center is equipped with many security features, including bullet-resistant protection at security check-in and level III walls and doors, a 24-hour security staff with at least 2 officers, access control dual-factor authentication system, and CCTV camera surveillance archived onsite and offsite.
“I’m excited to find a Chicago-area facility that will allow us to truly meet customer needs both present and future,” says Jordan Lowe, ServerCentral president and CEO. “While many options exist in the market today, the technical leadership exhibited by DuPont Fabros in this facility really impressed me. Significant efforts were made to choose environmentally conscious technologies in the design of the building, including UPS systems free of chemical batteries, advanced mechanical system automation and higher voltage throughout the building’s power distribution.”
Headquartered in Chicago, ServerCentral provides a range of managed data center solutions, including colocation, web hosting and disaster recovery, at data centers dispersed around the world.
Last July, ServerCentral sold its WingSix hosting brand to UK web hosting provider UK-2 Group.
