Sentilla Tool Consolidates Energy Information

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center energy management solutions provider Sentilla (www.sentilla.com) announced earlier tihs month it is now offering Sentilla Energy Manager for Data Centers Version 2.1, which now integrates energy tracking and measuring information from multiple vendors across the data center infrastructure, including IT and physical facilities.

The new offering offers a granular view of energy information at the equipment level, as well as a consolidated view of power use of all the equipment in the data center.

IT managers can now gather all the energy information in the data center, whether from Sentilla’s Power Analysis Unit or other, third-party equipment, and integrate it into one standardized format for a single, combined view.

The consolidated energy information lets IT managers set a baseline and establish power usage effectiveness, a standard promoted by The Green Grid and other data center organizations to offer a simplified method of measuring the ratio of power delivered to IT equipment to the total amount of power consumed by the data center.

By integrating third-party device support, the solution is the first of its kind to feature a fully aggregated dashboard which IT managers can use to track energy waste and reduce facility overhead costs.

“The driving philosophy at Sentilla is to help IT and facilities managers make data centers and other corporate facilities as energy-efficient as possible, whether they are using Sentilla technology or other equipment,” says Bob Davis, CEO of Sentilla. “Sentilla’s focus is helping companies reduce their operating costs significantly by providing insight, analysis and actions that make these environments more efficient.”

According to the press release, Sentilla’s platform is the “only solution that analyzes energy use and waste at the equipment level to create actionable profiles of an organization’s energy footprint,” enabling companies to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions and lower operating costs.

In January, Sentilla received a $7.5 million B round in funding from Onset Ventures and Claremont Creek Ventures.
