Sedo and Neustar to Auction One-Character .BIZ Domains for First Time

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Online domain marketplace and monetization provider Sedo (www.sedo.com) has teamed with Neustar (www.neustar.biz), the global operator for the .BIZ domain, to hold an exclusive auction for the entire available catalog of one-character .BIZ domain names.

Beginning at 12 noon EDT on September 23 and ending at 11:59 am on September 30, this auction marks the first time that a generic top level domain registry has released all of its one-character names, according to Sedo’s Monday announcement. These short, memorable, and extremely rare domains offer organizations an opportunity for branding.

“These single-character .BIZ domain names offer an incredible branding opportunity to B2B organizations to build or extend their business on the Web,” Sedo chief operating officer Jeremiah Johnston said in a statement. “We are thrilled to work with Neustar to introduce such a rare and complete collection of premium domain names to businesses and members of the Sedo community.”

While some one-character domains were previously assigned during Neustar’s request for proposals process, interested parties will now have an opportunity to buy one or more of the remaining 31, 36 one-character .BIZ names, including the 26 letters in the Roman alphabet and digits 0 through 9. The complete list of one-character .BIZ domain names is available at Sedo’s .biz website (www.sedo.biz).

The auction of these one-character .BIZ domain names is just Sedo’s latest effort in facilitating the sale of domains. Last week, Sedo launched a new tool to automatically provide sellers free price suggestions for their domain names, increasing the saleability of domains and providing a simpler process for domain buyers.
