Security-as-a-Service provider Alert Logic announced on Tuesday that its Log Manager is now available for Windows Azure public cloud to provide hybrid cloud security risk mitigation. Alert Logic Log Manager provides real-time security monitoring and allows users to manage log data from data centers, on-premise infrastructure, and Windows Azure public cloud.

Log Manager now runs natively in Windows Azure, and should help alleviate security concerns for organizations moving data to a public cloud environment as security is still a primary concern for organizations who may not be as familiar with public cloud, Alert Logic said.

Alert Logic Log Manager supports a range of log files, and collects data from cloud and on-premises IT infrastructure, and customers have access to security experts to review log files and deliver detailed security reports.

“IT organizations that are migrating to Windows Azure or planning to run a hybrid IT environment will now be able to use the same security log consolidation and reporting solution across the enterprise,” Dave Colesante, Alert Logic chief technology officer and senior vice president of product development said. “We are pleased to expand our proven SaaS solution to Windows Azure with Log Manager, helping ease transitions to the hybrid cloud environment.”

Alert Logic is offering customers two plans for Log Manager for Windows Azure, the Security Edition, a web-based log management solution with data kept in the cloud for 90 days, and the Security & Compliance Edition, which includes a daily log review service to meet PCI-DSS log review compliance where data is retained in the cloud for one year.

Also on Thursday, Alert Logic named David Howorth as VP of sales in the UK. He will be responsible for building the UK sales team as it begins its expansion into Europe.

Howorth joins Alert Logic from Verizon Enterprise Solutions’ Global Strategic Services, where he most recently served as Area VP, Verizon Enterprise Solutions Global Strategic Services.

Recently, Alert Logic announced that it has been included in AWS Activate, Amazon Web Services’ official package of resources for startup businesses.
