Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.

December 11, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- The SCO (sco.com) Web site was knocked offline by a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on Wednesday and remained offline more than eight hours after it was initially attacked, according to a report published by research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com).

Netcraft said the SCO Web site site has been down since 4:20 am Mountain Time on Wednesday, December 10. The attack also affected SCO's email, intranet and customer support operations.

According to Netcraft, SCO has contacted law enforcement officials and is working with its Internet service provider to restore the site to operation.

According to Netcraft, the company said the attack used "several thousand servers (that) were compromised by an unknown person to overload SCO's Web site with illegitimate Web site requests."

SCO, currently embroiled in a legal battle with IBM over UNIX licensing copyrights, also suffered a DDoS attack on its Web site in August.

At press time, the SCO Web site remained offline.
