SCO Group Ordered to Reveal Code

SCO filed its lawsuit against IBM early last year, claiming that code used in IBM’s AIX operating system violates its intellectual property rights in UNIX. IBM is also a major supporter of Linux, another target of SCO. SCO claims that code found in the Linux kernel similarly infringes its UNIX copyrights.

The SCO Group has been under fire by critics for not revealing the code it says violates its copyrights. In January, it presented IBM with a list of files and individual code samples as evidence. The submissions, prompted by a court order, were the first pieces of evidence presented since the lawsuit against IBM was filed last March.

Last week, SCO began going after Linux end users, suing Autozone and DaimlerChrysler. The company was also successful in securing three licensees, including Web hosting provider EV1Servers (ev1servers.net).
