As SVP engineering, Hinnant will lead ScienceLogic’s software development and software quality assurance teams
Cloud management provider ScienceLogic announced on Monday that it has named former Cisco director David Hinnant senior vice president of engineering. In his role, Hinnant will lead ScienceLogic’s software development and software quality assurance teams.
Hinnant will be responsible for ensuring the Smart IT software delivers maximum value to its service provider, enterprise and federal customers. Smart IT software wraps core IT infrastructure management functions including systems, performance, network and multi-tenancy into one product with a centralized user interface and data repository.
Prior to ScienceLogic, Hinnant served as director of quality, technical operations, and incubation at Cisco. In this role, he managed the development, testing, and support of platforms and tools for Cisco’s “Smart Services” portfolio, and has experience working with enterprise and service provider customers.
“David’s industry expertise and proven track record of success in product management, software development and quality assurance make him a perfect addition to the ScienceLogic executive team,” John Becker, ScienceLogic CEO said in a statement. “As a former customer, David is the ideal customer advocate. We look forward to him sharing his vision and his drive to always put the customer first in everything we do.”
Recently, ScienceLogic reported a record-breaking year with a 69 percent year-over-year sales increase during the fourth quarter of 2012. In July, WHIR TV spoke to ScienceLogic founder and chairman David Link and CTO Antonio Piraino about how it helps hosting providers meet the cloud service needs of enterprises.
“I have a long standing relationship with ScienceLogic as a customer when I was a director at Cisco,” Hinnant said in a statement. “I am inspired by the passion and vision ScienceLogic has to make life much easier for people like me and the teams I’ve worked with. I look forward to helping accelerate making that vision a reality.”
Hinnant has also served as co-chair for the Engineering Transformation Working Group and the Innovation and Research Working Group – both sponsored by the Services Technology Board at Cisco Services, according to the press release.
Prior to Cisco, Hinnant was the VP of engineering at Triumfant, Inc where he was responsible for software engineering and customer service for IT desktop and server problem remediation products.
Hinnant will be based out of the ScienceLogic headquarters in Reston, Va.
