(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — European, cloud computing and data center solutions provider ScaleUp Technologies (www.scaleup.it) has announced that one of its lead developers, Christian Hacker, is the first person in Europe to be certified under the Certified Cloud Operator program, recently introduced by 3Tera (www.3tera.com).
Designed to address the needs of cloud computing professionals, and to facilitate the rapid deployment of cloud computing solutions, last week, cloud computing platform software and utility computing services developer 3Tera unveiled two new educational and certification programs, Certified Cloud Operator and Certified Cloud Architect.
Christian Hacker, who has an impressive 10-year background as a technology leader and joined ScaleUp in April of 2009, underwent three days of extensive training and coursework, and successfully completed 3Tera’s online testing to become a Certified Cloud Operator.
“Although the certification exam definitely requires deep knowledge & experience, it wasn’t hard for me to complete it successfully!” Hacker said in a statement. “In my daily work with AppLogic I had already experienced about 90 percent of the cases and operation steps that we went through during the training. The 3-day boot camp was very well developed with many practical examples and step-by-step guides that a cloud operator like myself can implement immediately.”
3Tera’s Certified Cloud Operator program is targeted toward those responsible for the deployment and operation of cloud services, and covers the process of installing, configuring and maintaining the computing fabric used for building cloud computing services. Emphasis is placed on service configuration, ensuring high availability and instant failover of cloud installations, provisioning of customers and configuration of virtual private data centers.
Hamburg-based ScaleUp Technologies launched its first cloud solution in Germany in late 2009, becoming the first in Europe to demonstrate the successful use of IPv6 in the cloud, along with US partners 3Tera and Cari.net.
“After 11 years growing our traditional data center operation in Germany, we are now taking a leadership role in cloud computing, both in Germany and greater mainland Europe,” ScaleUp chief executive officer Gihan Behrmann said in a statement. “We see it as our responsibility to demonstrate this revolutionary shift in IT operations as safe, secure and an economically advantageous solution for the European enterprise. Having the first Certified Cloud Operator in Europe is just another example of that commitment.”
Hacker said, “Working with AppLogic is just great! You visually create the infrastructure while developing the project itself. Once configuring the applications servers you can deploy, run and scale any web applications in no time. It’s not only fast and cost effective, it’s also fun.”
