SAVVIS Hosts Social Networking Site

November 12, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IT infrastructure services provider SAVVIS (savvis.net) announced on Monday it has deployed the IT infrastructure to power Capazoo (capazoo.com), a new social networking and online entertainment website.

The initial $5 million, three-year agreement with SAVVIS provides Capazoo with a backend infrastructure in place to sustain its rapid growth, enabling the company to focus on its core business and development of intellectual property.

SAVVIS will provide Capazoo with a fully managed IT infrastructure solution, which includes data center facilities, virtualized servers and storage systems, round-clock operations management and monitoring services, as well as advanced security services including distributed denial of service and intrusion detection systems that underpin the new Capazoo Web experience. SAVVIS’ professional services team designed and oversaw deployment of the solution hosted in a SAVVIS data center in Boston, Massachusetts.

“SAVVIS’ IT infrastructure as a service model enables Web 2.0 companies to get to market faster, reducing upstart costs and time associated with building their own infrastructure,” says SAVVIS VP Jonathan Crane. “By deploying our IT infrastructure and virtualized utility services platform, Capazoo.com can easily scale its website to prepare for millions of additional visitors as the company continues to grow in popularity.”

The company announced last month it completed construction and officially opened a new data center in Sterling, Virginia to meet the growing demand for integrated hosting and network services.
