Savvis Brings Utility IT to UK

The platform will be deployed based on the utility computing model, allowing customers to pay only for the services they use. According to SAVVIS, this will allow UK businesses to reduce hardware and IT infrastructure deployments, cutting annual IT expenses by as much as 50 percent. It also enables SAVVIS to be more responsive to its customers needs and reduce their dependence on redundant hardware.

The SAVVIS virtualized utility services delivery platform uses virtualization technology to deliver a range of managed hosting and network services. SAVVIS’ platform, rolled out earlier this year, is based on technology from partnerships with Egenera, Inkra Networks, 3PAR, and Nortel Networks.
