June 3, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- According to reports, wholesaler Sam's Club (samsclub.com), a division of Wal-Mart, is getting into the Web hosting business. The Sam's Club Web hosting service is targeted at small businesses, offering a basic Web hosting plan for $5 per month. The plan includes hosting, a domain name and email address. An additional $5 fee adds an online shopping feature. The service also provides Web page templates that users can customize with their own branding, logo and content. The service is available to business customers with Sam?s Club memberships.

Cara Kinzey, vice president of membership for the Sam's Club wholesale chain, said in a report that the introduction of Web hosting services was a response to the demands of its customers.

Vista.com (vista.com), a Redmond, Washington-based small business software developer, will manage the Web hosting service for Sam's Club.
