(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In his presentation “SaaS software licensing: all you want to know about ‘pay-as-you-grow’”, Pim Bultman, sales manager of hosting solutions Benelux at Insight explained how adopting a pay you go licensing model is the most effective way for a web host to grow its business.
Bultman opened his presentation by applying Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest to succeeding in the IT marketplace with continual product evolution and innovation.
He talked a bit about some of the larger SLA programs offered by companies, such as the Microsoft Service Provider License Agreement, VMWare Service Provider Program, and Citrix Service Provider.
The programs have varying levels of technical and customer support for members, benefits, and requirements, which Bultman highlighted.
In closing, Bultman recommended that web hosting providers ought to evolve their product line and adopt a pay as you go model.
