Rochen Launches UK Hosting Division

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Dallas-based hosting provider Rochen Limited (www.rochen.com) has launched a UK hosting division, offering a range of business hosting, reseller hosting and managed virtual server solutions for the European market.

According to the company’s Thursday announcement, Rochen UK is modeled after Rochen’s existing US services. Rochen fully owns and operates all its hosting infrastructure in the UK. All hosting plans include access to Rochen Vault managed backups at no additional charge, as well as 24/7 technical support from certified engineers located in the UK.

“Our existing customers have consistently requested UK hosting services, and we listened,” Rochen founder and chief executive officer Chris Adams said in a statement. “Today’s launch is an important positive step forward not only for our company, but also for our many resellers who make a living selling hosting services on our platform. We’re extending the same level of quality to this new division. It’s true performance hosting.”

With operations in the US, Canada and Australia, UK-based hosting services was a logical step for a variety of reasons. Principally, physically locating servers in England reduces latency for European connections. The UK services also satisfy data protection requirements for business within European Union member nations, which require data to be stored within the EU.

Rochen UK’s data center space is located in a new facility near London, with IP connectivity provided by Gyron Internet (www1.uk.gyron.net). As is the case in the US, Rochen will own the servers and network switches it deploys, giving it full end-to-end control over the service.

Also, unlike many international hosting providers that charge higher prices for European services, Rochen UK pricing is similar to US pricing. Rochen UK’s Starter Plan, which includes RAID10 protected storage and premium data transfer, starts at £4.95 (or about $8) per month, similar to the equivalent US package, priced at $7.95.

As part of the launch, Rochen UK will be running sales promotions and special offers through its web site, on twitter, and other social media.

A number of other US hosts have been reaching out to European customers lately, such as Orlando, Florida-based web hosting provider Surpass Hosting (www.surpasshosting.com), which added new hosting plans for UK customers in May. The Surpass Hosting servers that power its UK hosting service are physically located at a BlueSquare Data (www.bluesquaredata.com) facility near London, offering customers greater redundancy, increased bandwidth, and fewer network hops to reach web users throughout Europe and Asia.
