(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – The last keynote presentation before the lunch break came from Parallels (www.parallels.com), a company that needs no introduction for most attendees at WorldHostingDays.

Titled “Road Ahead: More Customers, More Services, More Opportunity – and More Competition”, CEO Birger Steen gave a preview at what Parallels is doing in the upcoming months.

First, Birger offered some general predictions about the future of industry giants like Amazon, Salesforce, Google, Apple, Microsoft and Facebook.

The focal point of Birger’s presentation was centered around the importance of the SMB market.

Making up more than half of the IT market today, Birger stressed that SMBs offer the largest opportunity for the cloud market.

Birger stressed the three points he wanted attendees to walk away with is that they should optimize their cloud infrastructure, provide a full set of services for their customers, and facilitate all of this  through partnerships.

At this point, Birger introduced Parallels VP of panel products Craig Bartholomew who discussed Parallels Plesk Panel and its features, such as Storefront, SiteBuilder which includes pre-written templates.

Bartholomew pointed out that version 10.2 of Parallels Plesk Panel, which will be released April 6, will offer full support for IPv6 and server name integration.

Birger came back for the remaining 10 minutes of the presentation where he took a brief look at the last 12 months of product developments, including the release of Parallels Automation 2010.

He ended his presentation with a pitch that encouraged companies to partner with Parallels.
