Automated server migration solution provider RiverMeadow Software announced on Friday it has released version 2.0 of RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS which delivers a wide range of feature and infrastructure enhancements.
The move comes nearly a year after RiverMeadow Software joined the Savvis Enterprise Cloud Ecosystem program.
Developed completely in-house to accommodate both Linux and Windows server-to-cloud migrations, RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS automates the entire cloud migration process in less time and without the need to install agents or take servers out of production.
“The cost and complexity of migrating virtual, physical or cloud-based servers into the cloud can be overwhelming — averaging thousands of dollars per server and man-months’ worth of operational effort,” said Mark Shirman, CEO of RiverMeadow. “With the enhancements delivered in RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS 2.0, we continue to remove the barriers of entry for just a fraction of the cost and without the operational headaches, so organizations can immediately gain the economic and practical benefits of cloud computing.”
According to the press release, the RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS is an “API-based platform designed to automate the migration of live physical, virtual and cloud-based servers ‘as-is’ into public, private and hybrid cloud environments.”
The solution enables carriers and service providers to reduce the cost, timeframe and intricacy of cloud migration, which ultimately enables them to quickly, easily and cost-efficiently deliver the benefits of cloud computing to their customers.
Version 2.0 is a re-architectured update to the product, enabling RiverMeadow to rapidly scale-out whether it is geographic, feature or hypervisor support.
Over the next six months, RiverMeadow will be adding data centers around the world to address a broader, global market fueled by relationships with VMware, Cisco and Ericsson.
RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS differs from other solutions that migrate at the application level and have to account for shared libraries, registry entries and other complex interoperability issues, by migrating whole servers and disk volumes at the OS level.
Cloud providers need only to provide their cloud URL and credentials to instantly access RiverMeadow’s three key processes — collect, convert and deploy — that automate server migrations from start-to-finish.
