May 17, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The Web site for the Recording Industry Association for America (RIAA.com) is again suffering significant downtime, a report by research and analysis firm Netcraft (www.netcraft.com) says. The site was down on Sunday, May 16 and again on Monday, May 17.

In March, the RIAA Web site was brought down as a result of a DoS attack launched by computers infected with a variant of the MyDoom virus (MyDoom.F). The virus is programmed to launch an attack against RIAA between the 17th and 22nd of each month, making the virus a likely culprit in the site?s new performance troubles.

At press time, the Web site for the RIAA, heavily involved in efforts to combat online music piracy, was online.
