June 27, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Rockliffe’s (rockcliffe.com) MailSite NS (Non-Stop) had the lowest per year and three-year total cost of ownership for messaging systems, according to research done by technology benchmarking specialist Osterman Research.
MailSite NS is a messaging system utilized by Internet service providers to provide e-mail and related services such as anti-spam.
Rockliffe and Hewlett-Packard teamed up to develop the solution to run on HP NonStop servers.
Osterman analysed MailSite NS alongside four other messaging systems including Critical Path Messaging Server, Sun ONE Messaging Server, Microsoft Exchange and Openwave Email Mx. It found that in addition to a lower total cost of ownership, MailSite NS offered a very low, non-recurring per mailbox licence fee of only $1.00, lower administrative and maintenance requirements, and few points of hardware failure.
“This is one of the first major comparisons of the real costs of e-mail messaging systems,? said Alun Davies, vice president operations EMEA at Rockliffe. “ISPs and enterprises with large e-mail user bases can make savings of over 60 percent when they choose a scalable and resilient Rockliffe e-mail infrastructure that provides impressive cost benefits over the long term.”
