(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Market research firm Research and Markets (www.researchandmarkets.com) announced on Monday it has published the “MAP Research Forecasts: Domain Registration Markets 2009-2011″ report, which calls the “world’s first report on the size, state and future of the global domain registration industry.”

According to the firm’s research results, which are based on the survey findings of top 20 global domain registrars, the overall industry will have a market value of $3.6 billion by the end of 2008, as well as anticipates this figure to increase to $5.3 billion by 2011.

The report reveals taht the overall market size of the global domain industry is expected to increase over the next three years, growth will be at a slower rate than previous years and a drop in average revenue per domain is forecast.

Additionally, growth in global top-level domains such as .com and .net will slow, while growth in country code top-level domains is expected to increase in developing countries such as Brazil, Russia, India and China.

The report also highlights other trends in the domain industry such as consolidation to gain market share, a growing focus on bundling services, growth in demand for domain parking, growth of mobile Internet and .mobi, and IPv6 significantly increasing the number of available domain names.

The report also discusses how domain registrars are now becoming ‘one-stop-shop’ service providers by offering a range of services, including domain registration, domain management, web hosting and domain resale.

Domain registrars continue to provide value added services to increase their revenues, typically bundling these services with domain registration.
