November 27, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator and managed services provider RagingWire Enterprise Solutions (ragingwire.com) announced on Tuesday that it has entered into negotiations to expand into a second 200,000-plus square foot facility in Sacramento, California. Pending incentives from the county and successful negotiation, RES expects to break ground for the new site in early 2008.
In response to the continued demand for its services, this expansion will increase RES’ data center floor space by more than 120,000 square feet for a total presence of over 230,000 square feet of raised floor in Sacramento, says the company. Before this latest expansion, RES had already increased its data center capacity by more than 110 percent over the last year within its existing 200,000 square foot enterprise Data CenterSM facility.
RES says the power infrastructure will be ultra-efficient with fully redundant failover capability and the Internet connectivity will include diverse high-capacity carrier-neutral bandwidth with multi-homed BGP options. The facility and cooling infrastructures will also be highly energy efficient while enabling high power densities and the data center will be built with environmental responsibility as a top priority, targeting LEED Platinum certification.
“We have seen explosive growth in the demand for premier, enterprise-class data center space over the last couple of years,” says George Macricostas, CEO and vice chairman of RES. “Weathering the dot.com downturn reinforced our lean and efficient business model. As a result we continue to expand while remaining profitable.”
