October 20, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Enterprises are increasingly turning to managed service providers (MSPs) to satisfy their information technology and telecommunications requirements, according to The MSPAlliance (mspalliance.com) and THINKstrategies? (thinkstrategies.com) joint 2003 MSPAlliance Benchmark Study for the managed services and IT outsourcing industry.

The results of the study, announced today, found that the trend towards outsourcing has fueled the resurgence of the managed services industry. According to the report, the managed services industry has averaged 52.7 percent revenue growth and 24.5 percent customer growth in the past twelve months.

The report also found that 90 percent of MSP clients renew their contracts and nearly two-thirds of MSP clients buy additional services after signing their initial service contracts.

The study was based on a Web survey completed by 50 companies providing managed services in August and September 2003.

The data considered by the study included revenue growth, customer adoption, contract types, SLAs, staffing requirements and mergers and acquisitions activity.
