As thousands more gTLDs are set to be released, existing TLDs must be creative in marketing domains. On Friday at the New Media Expo in Las Vegas, the .ME Registry launched a new loyalty program, offering perks to .ME users.
Much like other loyalty programs, the .ME program requires users to sign up online, and perform actions to collect points which can be redeemed for rewards such as domain name and hosting packages and gift cards.
At NMX last week, .ME users were encouraged to sign up on Facebook and earn points by sharing thoughts on the program, and tagging photos at the .ME booth on Twitter and Instagram using the #domainME hashtag.
“As longtime sponsors of NMX, we have developed a truly special relationship with our blogging community. We would like to invite everyone attending the conference to stop by booth number 607 to chat with us, pose for personalized photos and take home swag we’ve designed for the blogger on the go,” Predrag Lesic, CEO of the .ME Registry said.
The .ME domain targets individuals and bloggers, and launching the loyalty program at NMX will help it gain some momentum with its core customer base.
The .ME domain is not the only domain to offer perks to users. In targeting startups, .CO Internet launched a membership program in 2012 to give startups a range of benefits, as a sort of part referral, part rewards program.
