Open source cloud software provider Red Hat has closed its acquisition of cloud management company ManageIQ.
Open source cloud software provider Red Hat announced on Tuesday it has closed its acquisition of cloud management company ManageIQ.
Web hosts have an opportunity to partner or acquire cloud management tool companies to differentiate their cloud offerings by providing new functionality to customers.
“We’ve worked with ManageIQ as a partner to our Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization platform with successful joint customers and saw an opportunity to expand our hybrid cloud management capabilities with an even closer relationship with ManageIQ’s compelling portfolio,” said Bryan Che, general manager of the cloud business unit at Red Hat. “With the closing of the acquisition, we now begin work to integrate ManageIQ’s enterprise cloud management and automation technologies with our complementary Red Hat CloudForms hybrid Infrastructure-as-a-Service solution and our open Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization management solution. With this combination, we can offer our customers an unparalleled open hybrid cloud management portfolio.”
With the addition of ManageIQ, Red Hat now has three new open hybrid cloud management solutions.
Red Hat CloudForms is the company’s hybrid cloud infrastructure-as-a-service solution that enables the management, brokering, and aggregation of capacity across a range of virtualization and cloud providers as well as the management of applications across hybrid clouds.
Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is a comprehensive virtualization management solution that enables organizations to build cloud environments.
ManageIQ’s Hybrid Cloud Operations Management Tools provides enterprises with operational management tools including monitoring, chargeback, governance, and orchestration across virtual and cloud infrastructure such as Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft and VMware.
In addition to having complementary technology and solutions portfolios, Red Hat and ManageIQ also share many joint customers.
Red Hat held a webcast press conference on Tuesday morning where executives discussed the acquisition of ManageIQ in detail, along with Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud management solutions.
