RagingWire Receives Tax Breaks for California Data Center Expansion

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator RagingWire Enterprise Solutions (www.ragingwire.com) announced on Wednesday that it will nearly double its data center in Sacramento County, thanks to a 10-year tax break it will receive on utilities.

The company will add about 180,000 square feet to its existing 200,000 square-foot data center in the Natomas area.

The county approved RagingWire’s request for tax incentives over the next 10 years for the $170 million expansion.

As a result, the county will freeze RagingWire’s utility taxes at current levels for the next five years and reduce by half the added taxes it incurs for the following five years, with total savings capped at $2.8 million.

The expanded data center is expected to generate at least $7.7 million in new property and utility taxes over the next decade, as well as create 20 new jobs, said Rob Leonard, the county’s economic development director.

Ragingwire is expected to pull construction permits for the new building within two weeks and complete the first phase of the project within a year.

For security reasons, RagingWire does not publicly disclose the exact location of the data center.
