Rackspace will deploy cloud optimization software from startup AppFormix with its OpenStack private cloud solutions to help customers manage scale and performance, the companies announced at the OpenStack Summit in Austin this week.
Licensing and integrating AppFormix into its managed OpenStack offerings allows Rackspace to deliver improved application performance through real-time monitoring and analytics.
The partnership allows Rackspace’s cloud operator and developer customers to use AppFormix predictive planning tools and interactive dashboard to monitor performance and allocate infrastructure with dynamic rules.
AppFormix, which came onto the market with its server optimization offering in June, also leverages Intel’s Resource Director Technology (RDT) to manage workloads and containers, after the companies announced a partnership in March to integrate AppFormix into new Intel processors.
“Rackspace is expanding the menu of choices for how enterprises can consume OpenStack,” Sumeet Singh, CEO and founder of AppFormix said in a statement. “With their ability to deliver a fully managed private cloud in any data center around the world, they’ve taken Fanatical Support to a new level. Best practices in how to manage and operate OpenStack starts at Rackspace, and we’re energized that they’ve selected AppFormix to help their customers see what’s happening inside their clouds in real time.”
“Our customers have come to rely on Rackspace as the foremost operators of OpenStack clouds,” said Bryan Thompson, senior director, product management of OpenStack Private Cloud at Rackspace. “The capabilities we’re adding to our OpenStack private cloud offerings with AppFormix software will give both our operators and customers better visibility and control of application performance.”
Rackspace also partnered recently with Red Hat to help enterprises manage OpenStack clouds.
