(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Rackspace Hosting (www.rackspace.com) announced on Monday it has named Steve Mills as chief information officer and Pat Cathey as VP of enterprise sales.
Both positions are newly created to support Rackspace market growth.
These are the first major appointments Rackspace has announced since December, when it named former eBay executive Mark Roenigk the company’s chief operating officer.
In this role, Mills will oversee all technology operations, operational metrics and interface with suppliers and resource providers in the IT area. He will report to chief operating officer Mark Roenigk.
Mills joins Rackspace from T-Mobile USA, where he was vice president of enterprise systems. Prior to this, he served as vice president of technical operations for T-Mobile HotSpot.
He has also served as director for technology delivery for government portal Texas Online, as well as held positions at Alex eBanking, Berkom USA, pcOrder.com, and E-Systems.
“Steve is an operations professional to the core and adds a new dimension to our technology infrastructure and services,” said Mark Roenigk, Chief Operating Officer for Rackspace. “His analytical sense and ability to align technical infrastructure to customer needs adds impressive depth to our team. His academic and business experience should help enhance the tradition of Fanatical Support at Rackspace.”
Cathey joins the Rackspace Enterprise Services division, serving in a role that will strengthen Rackspace’s growing presence in enterprise. He will report to Taylor Rhodes, vice president and general manager of enterprise services.
He joins Rackspace after serving seven years as president of Avnet Electronics Embedded Solutions.
Cathey also served as vice president of worldwide strategic alliances and Asia Pacific Operations for Web Gain, senior vice president of global sales and field operations for EC Net, vice president of sales for Arrow Electronics, and held key executive sales and business unit executive positions with IBM.
Both Mills and Cathey will be based in the company’s San Antonio headquarters.
