(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The Rackspace Cloud, the cloud computing division of Rackspace Hosting (www.rackspacecloud.com), announced on Thursday the success of its partnership with web design firm Cybernautic (www.cybernauticdesign.com) to host the website for popular ABC reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
To date, the website has not experienced a single failure, drawing millions of visitors since The Rackspace Cloud began providing hosting services.
The Rackspace Cloud provides hosting for Cybernautic’s estimated 200 client websites, including the recently constructed site for Brady Homes.
The site handled more than 300,000 hits since going live including a spike of 41,000 simultanous users during peak times, such as during taping and construction, and immediately following the house “reveal.”
Cybernautic moved the site’s hosting services to The Rackspace Cloud when it was asked to design, build and host the ExtremeBradyHomes.com website as part of the show.
In the past, the website would go down during the taping and construction, or within 48 hours of the show’s initial airing, as the show’s producers warned Cybernautic.
The website design firm decided against using its dedicated servers, and instead, turned to Rackspace Cloud Sites because of its “reputation for scalability”.
Cloud Sites ensures customers undergo seamless scaling during unpredictable usage spikes, says the company.
“We are proud to assist ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in changing the lives of the Montgomery family, and bringing the community together for such a great cause,” says Emil Sayegh, general manager of The Rackspace Cloud. “The fact that we are one of the only web hosting services that has been able to seamlessly handle the website traffic generated by this popular primetime show speaks volumes about the value of our cloud services, especially the scalability, ease of use, and affordability.”
