Rackable Systems said it is also deploying a 76 node Opteron-based server cluster at SCI’s data center in conjunction with AMD. The servers will feature the company’s new distributed DC power technology and will be used to power back-end services for gaming companies. Accoding to Rackable, its DC power technology allows game hosting environments to generate 20 to 40 percent less heat than AC power.
