June 16, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center solutions provider Rackable Systems (rackable.com) announced on Friday that company president and CEO Mark Barrenechea delivered the keynote address at the Interop Tokyo 2008 Conference and Expo, which took place June 9 to 13 at the Makuhari Messe.

The event is a significant one, as there has been a recent rise in green initiatives in Japan and the rest of Asia. Last month, The Green Grid expanded its operations and efforts to Asia by forming two new Japan Work Groups as well as a formal relationship with The Green IT Promotion Council.

Interop Tokyo says it is “one of the largest events of its kind,” serving the Asia IT industry and end user community. The organizers expected an attendance of 155,000 at the trade show, where it addressed the influence of IT equipment on the environment, with “GreenIT@Intero” as one of the five Interop Special Focus Areas in 2008.

“Building green data centers is no longer just a social good, it is now a corporate mandate,” says Barrenechea. “Japan is leading the development of the world’s greenest data centers, and has demonstrated a commitment to developing and supporting increased energy efficient technology, such as virtualization and DC power, and eco-friendly data center designs, such as right-sizing server and storage configurations — the necessary elements for building a true Eco-Logical data center. Rackable is proud to partner with CTC to enable green data centers in Japan.”

Barrenechea discussed the key factors of technology, infrastructure and deployment innovation in enabling the building of the world?s greenest data centers.

In his presentation, “Building the World’s Greenest Data Center,” Barrenechea discussed a range of topics, including increased energy consumption and costs, government regulations and forward-looking organizations’ influence on data center innovation, eco-friendly data center designs currently available and energy-efficient technologies of the future.

Rackable signed a deal in April with Japanese IT solutions provider ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation to integrate Rackable Systems’ Eco-Logical line of servers into its data center offerings.

As an active member of the Green Grid organization, which Rackable is a founding member of, and a Charter Member of the Japan Subgroup, CTC’s Data Center Business Unit has built a coherent strategy to support the development and deployment of green data center solutions throughout Japan.

Rackable Systems provides Eco-Logical servers and storage for large-scale data center deployments. The products and services are designed to enhance density, thermal efficiency, serviceability, power distribution, data center mobility and remote management.
