June 11, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data protection software developer R1Soft (r1soft.com) said this week that it has moved its offices to a 100-year-old building in the Montrose District of Houston, Texas.

The company, which was already based out of Houston, announced Wednesday that it had moved the office to 110 Avondale in Houston. The building turned 100 years old in May of this year.

R1Soft says the new offices provide the growing company with the space it needs to continue developing its data protection products.

According to the announcement, R1Soft is owned by BBS Techonologies, a company that counts several other local historic properties among its offices. The company says its “campus-like environment attracts the best and brightest software developers.”

“This building is probably better served as a historical museum than as headquarters for a major software development firm – it’s fun to be creating the next generation of data protection solutions in a building that is over 100 years old,” said David Wartell, vice president of the R1Soft division of BBS Technologies, in the press release. “We’re really excited about our new home and we think it reflects our attitude of questioning the old ideas and trying new things. We try to keep it fun, with wood floors, porches, and a pirate flag out front to signal that we are not your typical software company.”

In May, R1Soft reported that it had partnered with another Houston-based company, control panel developer cPanel, to deliver R1Soft’s continuous data protection technology to cPanel users.
