(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Backup software provider R1Soft announced on Monday that it has launched its Continuous Data Protection Data Center Console, a management platform for large-scale backup installations.

This announcement comes about a week after web hosting provider Qube announced that it now offers R1Soft Continuous Data Protection to provide backup and recovery services to its customers.

R1Soft says the console provides a centralized dashboard for monitoring and administration of backups across up to 100 or more CDP servers. It is compatible with R1Soft’s CDP 3.0 Enterprise and Advanced Edition, according to the press release.

R1Soft CDP Data Center Console can support mixed Windows/Linux environments and manage offsite CDP servers across WANs. This feature is useful for companies with multiple data centers or branch offices.

According to R1Soft, its data center console is an evolution of its CDP for Data Centers and improves scalability and architecture. It allows users to identify backup problems quickly with its dashboard, and find more information on individual CDP servers including associate volumes, disk usage, or policies.

“Scalability is key feature of our CDP Enterprise and Advanced Edition backup products. We know our clients are always looking to grow, and it’s important to us that we design products that can support their growth,” David Wartell, vice president of R1Soft said in a statement. “CDP Data Center is an extension of that desire. With it, we can help customers bring greater control and administrative efficiency to increasingly complex backup environments. Whether the customer has one server or 100,000 servers to backup, R1Soft CDP can meet his backup and disaster recovery needs.”

With unified login access across all CDP servers, the console eliminates vulnerabilities that usually exist in management of large scale server backups. Users are automatically pushed down to CDP servers allowing management of CDP servers even if the console is unavailable so the console is not a single point of failure.
