(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Windows and Linux server data protection software developer R1Soft (www.r1soft.com) has introduced the “Mini-Elite Hosting License,” giving resellers and web hosts access to its Continuous Data Protection technology at an unprecedented discount.
According to R1Soft’s Monday announcement, the Mini-Elite Hosting License, available until the end of September, provides a flat-rate subscription access to CDP backup technology, letting web hosts sell backup services to thousands of customers with no incremental software costs for $2,995 per month with no major up-front expenditures required. Mini-Elite includes unlimited CDP servers, up to 1,000 CDP agents, and free API access.
“Mini-Elite represents the first time we’ve ever opened the door to providing capacity for such a large number of backups for a low monthly fee,” R1Soft vice president David Wartell said in a statement. “For new customers, we’re creating an opportunity to take advantage of our high-performance data protection technologies without making a large initial investment or committing to a certain number of servers. It’s a virtually unlimited revenue generating opportunity for web hosts.”
Web hosts such as Liquid Web (www.liquidweb.com) and Superb Internet (www.superbhosting.net) have launched data protection services based on R1Soft’s CDP technology in the past. Liquid Web’s Guardian Secure Managed Continuous Backup and Recovery launched last year at $1 per month per gigabyte protected, offering real-time, off-site, secure data backup and restoration. Less than a month ago, Superb Internet introduced a new “Managed Dedicated Server” offering that features CDP technology to bring customers around-the-clock backups.
At the reduced price, R1Soft has positioned this technology within the budgets of many more web hosts.
