Qwest Opens 16th Data Center in Albuquerque

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Telecommunications carrier Qwest Communications (www.qwest.com) announced on Monday it has opened its 16th CyberCenter in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The new data center’s complete buildout will comprise of more than 14,000 square feet, scheduled for completion sometime in 2010.

Qwest says its data centers are designed to deliver “highly secure, reliable and scalable” dedicated hosting services and protect critical data and IT systems to businesses and government agencies.

The company provides support for customers implementing disaster recovery plans, conducting e-commerce, operating complex websites and managing IT environments.

The company’s 16 CyberCenters are located in 12 metropolitan areas including Denver, Burbank, Sacramento, Sunnyvale, Chicago,  Columbus, Minneapolis, Newark, Seattle, Sterling, and Tampa.

The data centers offer a range of features, including highly reliable connectivity to the company’s extensive coast-to-coast broadband network, multiple emergency power systems, redundant mechanical cooling systems, fire-detection and fire-suppression systems and equipment, indoor and outdoor security monitoring and biometric access screening, around-the-clock support staff and security personnel, and service level agreements that offer up to 100 percent network availability.
