Quickshift Deploys Inkra's VSS

July 28, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Network infrastructure firm Inkra Networks (inkra.com) said on Wednesday that security integrator Quickshift (quickshift.fr) will offer security solutions to its customers from an Inkra-based virtualized network security platform. Quickshift will deploy Inkra’s Virtual Service Switch, a device that virtualizes, consolidates and delivers multiple security services such as load balancing, firewalls and intrusion prevention, from a single platform.

“A perimeter security strategy is no longer enough to protect today’s porous corporate networks,” said Jérôme Gervais, general manager of Quickshift. “Until now, companies could only deploy defence in depth throughout their networks by implementing single-function security appliances. The cost and complexity involved in buying, installing and maintaining multiple disparate devices, however, has proved too costly and complex for most businesses. Inkra’s Virtual Service Switch eliminates these barriers and provides a highly scalable and cost-effective solution.”

According to Inkra, a single VSS can deliver the same functionality and performance as hundreds of individual appliances and can reduce operational costs by up to 90 percent.

“The partnership with Quickshift will help us address the rapidly growing demand amongst French businesses for virtualized network security solutions,” says Sébastien Bonnotte, general manager of Inkra Networks France.
