Quellan, Molex Extend PCI Express Reach June 7, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Analog signal integrity chip provider Quellan (quellan.com) and interconnect systems manufacturer Molex (molex.com) announced on Tuesday they have run the proposed PCI Express cable standard to 30 meters. At Globalcomm, both Quellan and Molex demonstrated the ability to extend data center reach at 2.5 Gbps to over four times the length of the currently proposed PCI Express standard of seven meters. By combining Quellan’s low power X-TEN cable extension module with Molex’s iPass interconnect system, signal reach extension is made possible by compensating for channel noise, attenuation and impairments, all of which greatly affect signal quality after seven meters of transmission. ”PCI Express is a major PC interconnect standard today.
